Caroline S is a Danish-built coaster with a loading capacity of 240 tonnes with a single hold, covered with a wooden hatch cover.
The main engine is a 4 cylinder MAK diesel that produces 265 Hp and gives a speed of approx. 8 knots.
The ship was built in Marstal and delivered to the first owner in 1959 and has thus celebrated its 60th birthday. The ship has generally been busy sailing between the Scandinavian ports with individual trips to ports on the continent. The ship underwent a class inspection in 2020 and can be described as a well-maintained vessel.
Caroline S is owned today by the Caroline S association in Svendborg and is mainly staffed by former sailing, now retired sailors. The sailing is free of charge but provides fantastic camaraderie and togetherness. Board and travel expenses are paid according to bill. The mustering periods are probably the shortest in the Danish merchant fleet, generally 2-3 days.
