On 3 June 1942 Fletcher-class destroyer USS Charette (DD-581) was launched at the Boston Navy Yard, sponsored by Mrs. G. Charrette. She was transferred to Greece as 'Velos' (D16) on 16 June 1959 and served the Hellenic Navy until 26 February 1991. Now a museum ship at Palaio Faliro, near Athens, Greece
