HMS Onyx laid down
62 years ago today, on 27 September 1962, Oberon-class submarine HMS Onyx was laid down at Chatham Dockyard.
During construction the submarine was transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy, and was launched as HMCS Ojibwa. The submarine was named after the Ojibwe First Nations people, and was assigned the pennant number S 72.
Now a museum ship at the Museum of Naval History in Port Burwell, Ontario, Canada.
