Jeremiah O'Brien taken out of service

80 years ago today, on 7 February 1946, the Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien was taken out of service. She was mothballed and remained in the National Defense Reserve Fleet in Suisun Bay for 33 years, after which an all-volunteer group, the National Liberty Ship Memorial (NLSM), acquired Jeremiah O'Brien in 1979 for restoration.
