Bonhomme Richard laid down

83 years ago today, on 1 December 1941, Essex-class aircraft carrier Bonhomme Richard was laid down at Newport News Shipbuilding. She was renamed USS Yorktown (CV-10) while still under construction to commemorate the loss of USS Yorktown (CV-5) during the Battle of Midway in June 1942
