On 21 September 1939, MY Philante entered in Royal Navy service as HMS Philante. After WWII she was sold back to her previous owner, Thomas Sopwith, who sold it to Norway in July 1947, to be used as King Haakon's 75th birthday present. At commissioning on 17 May 1948 she was renamed 'Norge'
