USS Hornet decommissioned
53 years ago today, on 26 June 1970, Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV-12) was decommissioned for the third and final time and mothballed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.
